"New" Car

Despite living in town, we decided to buy a car.  We had been renting when we occasionally needed to drive somewhere, but this year particularly, rentals are expensive and hard to come by.  Unfortunately, Portuguese cars in general are rather pricey due to both high taxes and the limited supply.  We decided to buy used, and after much research we bought a 2019 Renault Captur with only 32,000 kms on it.  It's a nice little car (stress on "little) which is technically termed an "urban" SUV.  It's big enough for both us and Ryder, and it is good on gas (which is important with it being over $8 per gallon) due to its miniscule 90 hp engine.  We got a one-year warranty by buying through a dealership.  Our first trip was to the river to let Ryder run and swim around.
The car actually has a lot of nice features: backup camera, parking sensors, LCD dash display, Bluetooth connectivity, blind spot sensors, keyless entry/ignition, and a real spare tire (not always a thing in Europe).  But the feature Debra is most excited about is the automatic  parking mode, whereby the car steers itself while parallel parking!

Debra’s excitement about the car is confined to “it's about time.” She won’t be parallel parking it anywhere, for any reason.
