Madeira (Day 1)

We flew to Madeira from mainland Portugal to celebrate Debra's birthday.  The Madeira archipelago is part of Portugal and is comprised of two main islands, Madeira and Porto Santo.  We are staying in Funchal, the main city of Madeira Island, for our five-day trip.  The flight to Funchal is only about 90 minutes from Lisbon.

On our first night in Funchal, we noted a fantastic amount of Christmas decorations, which were still on display even as we ended the "Twelve Days of Christmas."  (Be sure to watch the last Christmas video below.  It's pretty spectacular.)
